La strenua lotta del Papa contro la pedofilia nel clero: il "caso Irlanda"

COMUNICATO: INCONTRO DEL SANTO PADRE CON RAPPRESENTANTI DELLA CONFERENZA EPISCOPALE IRLANDESE E CAPI DICASTERO DELLA CURIA ROMANA

Nella mattina di venerdì 11 dicembre il Santo Padre ha tenuto un incontro con vescovi irlandesi di primo piano e prelati di alto rango della Curia Romana.

Ha ascoltato le loro preoccupazioni e ha discusso con loro degli eventi traumatici che sono stati presentati nel Report into the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin dell'Irish Commission of Investigation.

Dopo aver esaminato attentamente il Rapporto, il Santo Padre è rimasto profondamente turbato e addolorato per i suoi contenuti.

Desidera esprimere ancora una volta il proprio profondo rincrescimento per le azioni di alcuni membri del clero che hanno tradito le loro promesse solenni a Dio nonché la fiducia riposta in loro dalle vittime e dalle loro famiglie, e dalla società in generale.

Il Santo Padre condivide lo sdegno, la sensazione di tradimento e la vergogna provati da così tanti fedeli in Irlanda, ed è unito a loro in preghiera in questo momento difficile nella vita della Chiesa.

Sua Santità chiede ai cattolici in Irlanda e in tutto il mondo di unirsi a lui nel pregare per le vittime, per le loro famiglie e per tutti coloro che sono stati colpiti da questi crimini odiosi.

Assicura a tutte le persone interessate che la Chiesa continuerà a seguire questa grave questione con la maggiore attenzione possibile per comprendere meglio in che modo si sono verificati questi eventi vergognosi e qual è il modo migliore per elaborare strategie efficaci e sicure per evitare che si verifichino di nuovo.

La Santa Sede prende molto seriamente le questioni centrali sollevate dal Rapporto, incluse quelle relative al governo di capi della Chiesa locale con la responsabilità fondamentale della cura pastorale di bambini.

Il Santo Padre intende rivolgere una Lettera Pastorale ai fedeli d'Irlanda, nella quale indicherà con chiarezza le iniziative che devono essere prese in risposta alla situazione.

Infine, Sua Santità incoraggia quanti hanno dedicato la propria vita al servizio generoso ai bambini a perseverare nelle loro buone opere a imitazione di Cristo, il Buon Pastore.

COMUNICATO: INCONTRO DEL SANTO PADRE CON RAPPRESENTANTI DELLA CONFERENZA EPISCOPALE IRLANDESE E CAPI DICASTERO DELLA CURIA ROMANA

Today the Holy Father held a meeting with senior Irish Bishops and high-ranking members of the Roman Curia. He listened to their concerns and discussed with them the traumatic events that were presented in the Irish Commission of Investigation’s Report into the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin.

After careful study of the Report, the Holy Father was deeply disturbed and distressed by its contents. He wishes once more to express his profound regret at the actions of some members of the clergy who have betrayed their solemn promises to God, as well as the trust placed in them by the victims and their families, and by society at large.

The Holy Father shares the outrage, betrayal and shame felt by so many of the faithful in Ireland, and he is united with them in prayer at this difficult time in the life of the Church.

His Holiness asks Catholics in Ireland and throughout the world to join him in praying for the victims, their families and all those affected by these heinous crimes.

He assures all concerned that the Church will continue to follow this grave matter with the closest attention in order to understand better how these shameful events came to pass and how best to develop effective and secure strategies to prevent any recurrence.

The Holy See takes very seriously the central issues raised by the Report, including questions concerning the governance of local Church leaders with ultimate responsibility for the pastoral care of children.

The Holy Father intends to address a Pastoral Letter to the faithful of Ireland in which he will clearly indicate the initiatives that are to be taken in response to the situation.

Finally, His Holiness encourages all those who have dedicated their lives in generous service to children to persevere in their good works in imitation of Christ the Good Shepherd.
